Details and use

The coat has a comfortable fit and is easy to put on and take off. Its high collar provides extra warmth around the neck. The close-fitting shape makes it suitable for wearing under raincoats, windproof coats or identification vests. With elastic straps for the hind legs.

Material: 100% merino wool; wool felt over the back and rib-knitted merino wool over the chest and in the collar.

Washing: wool cycle at 30°C with wool detergent. Do not tumble dry.

How to put on the coat

Put the coat on like a jumper. First pull it over the head and guide the front legs through the openings. Pull it down over the body, guide the hind legs through the elastic straps and tighten the rear adjustment if needed.

Size guide

Sidney sizes are based on your dog's back length in centimetres. Measure your dog and choose the size with the same back length to find a coat that fits properly.

How to measure your dog

  1. Start between the shoulder blades. Have your dog stand straight and still, and find the point midway between the shoulder blades.
  2. Measure to the bend in front of the tail. Follow the back to the point where the back ends and the tail begins. Gently lifting the tail makes this transition easier to feel.
  3. Measure along the back. Use a soft tape measure and follow the shape of the back.

Tip: Sidney fits like a jumper, sits close to the body and may feel snug. A coat that is slightly long is better than one that is too small.

What do the measurements mean?

The size, for example M 45 cm, is the dog's back length, measured from the point between the shoulder blades to the transition in front of the tail.

Washing and caring for wool products

One major advantage of wool is that it is largely self-cleaning, but there are a few points to keep in mind when washing and caring for it.

  • Shake the product and air it outdoors in fresh air for a couple of hours. Dirt usually stays on the surface rather than penetrating the wool fibres.
  • When washing is needed, Canelana recommends machine washing on a wool cycle at 30°C with a dedicated wool detergent.
  • Wash wool products separately for the best results.
  • Preferably avoid hand washing, as it can be harder to control the temperature and rinse out detergent and dirt than with machine washing.
  • Spin drying helps the wool fabric dry more quickly and creates less favourable conditions for bacterial growth.
